Founded in 1846, St. Margaret's School provides education from Preparatory to VIth Year for around 400 girls. There is also a Nursery within the school to which girls and boys are admitted from the age of three.
Conveniently situated in the West End of Aberdeen, the School has excellent facilities including five well equipped Science laboratories, a computer room, a listening station for Modern Languages, an Art Studio, Library, fine gymnasium and extensive playing fields at Summerhill. During 1996, the school's 150th anniversary year, a new extension incorporating a music suite, two classrooms and a general purposes room was opened.
The aims of the School are to provide the sound academic experience essential for entry to higher and further education, industry, commerce and the professions; to develop an appreciation of the Arts and to give each girl an education appropriate to her abilities with experience of modern technology to prepare her for the workplace of the 21st century. Girls are taught to value themselves as individuals, to respect and work with others, to have a sense of fun and be adaptable to change.
The curriculum offers courses leading to the examinations of the Scottish Qualifications Authority at Standard Grade, Higher and Sixth Year Studies level.
